The scholarship will cover the costs of the course including travel and sundries. Anybody over the age 20 years old can apply. Click here if you want to find out more.

Congratulations to Michelle and Owen

Michelle Hemingway and Owen McFadden were awarded the Gradam na hÉigse. The award shows our appreciation to our volunteers and their dedication to Comhaltas in Britain and their community. Michelle has been a member of the Tara O’Carolan branch in Manchester for many years and recently was part of the Fleadh committee for All-Britain 2024 in Saint Helens. Owen is an active chair of North London and has given many hours to his community.

SCT Success

SCT has early signs of successful uptake across branches in Britain. In 2024, the SCT exams were regulated by Ofqual through our partnership with the Teacher's Music Board. Meaning the qualification could earn you UCAS points towards any college or University applications. Irish Traditional music teachers have now entered the first applicants into the exams for 2025 during the November to January window.

Our new youth Orchestra 'Ceol Le Chéile'

Our Youth Officer Calum has announced the new established youth folk orchestra called Ceol le Chéile (translation ‘music together’). The orchestra is set up of 20 musicians who will be practising in 4 locations around Britain. We are proud to announce that Hugh Sheehan is the musical director of the group and will take it to new heights. You can apply to be in the group by clicking here

New updates on our safeguarding procedures

Legislation in Scotland is about to change on the 1st of April, which means PVG scheme membership is a legal requirement for anyone carrying out regulated activity and memberships need to be renewed every 5 years. Comhaltas in Britain has now partnered with Aaron’s department to register all of our regulated teachers and volunteers. They provide affordable DBS checks and training to all of our volunteers and committee members.
